How To Join

Welcome to The Ugly Shirt Project!

This blog is a project for all nursing mothers to find a hideous shirt that is nursing-friendly and either -
  • Wearing it confidently in public, or
  • Accessorizing it so that it doesn't seem quite as hideous.
This blog is about gathering nursing mothers to share stories of 'wardrobe malfunctions,' tips and tricks for wearing nursing-friendly clothes well, and overall being confident in being amazing as a nursing mother. Hopefully it can be a resource for mothers and a way to connect over the little silly struggles of fashion and breast-accessibility.

My challenge to all you reading is to do the following:

  1. Join me! How do you join TUSP? Well, that's easy, just comment here with your email address and I will add you to the list of authors. No need for your name, you don't even have to post up anything if you want. Or ou can just start watching and commenting on posts you find.
  2. Find ugly shirts! Now, finding an ugly shirt is easy, you can choose a rerun from your closet or your past, or you can branch out to thrift stores or your friends' closet. These shirts don't necessarily have to be nursing friendly, or a certain style, they can even be your own creation if you want. My goal is button up oversize shirts because that is most comfortable for me to nurse in. Your style can be completely different - mix and match, layer, go wild!
  3. Post! Post up a picture of your ugly shirt. Either in the mirror in the bathroom, out with friends, or photobomb your friends with the shirt. Found something hideous online? Post that up!
There is one additional challenge - and that is to do this as cheaply as possible. That's why you hit up friends, grandmothers, aunts, thrift stores, garage sales, whatever you want. It's not really a contest, but let's face it we are in a recession, and every penny counts.

Just one rule with posting - for the label, please include your identity, the type of post (picture, DIY, tips and tricks, rant, or shopping information), your baby's name and age, and type of style (printed, button up, etc.)
